This machine belonged to the Raoul’s loot. The Sinclair
QL is a 1984 computer based on the
Motorola 68008 cpu. It is
designed as a business machine, and rapidly failed after its market
debut. Compared to the most common Spectrum, it has a
somewhat-decent keyboard, and two built in Microdrives. It features
a quite good number of interfaces:
the ROM cart socket
2 RS-232 ports
QLAN local area network port (prorietary)
2 joystick ports
external Microdrive bus
Battery
I found a rechargeable battery inside, added by the previous owner.
Luckily it wasn’t leaking, but I decided to remove it anyway to restore
the machine to its original state.
Spacebar issues
One of the brackets holding the spacebar was broken, so i created a
reinforcement using a small piece of metal preventing the spacebar
left/right wobble.
Micro Drives issue
Both of the micro drives are endlessy spinning when trying to load or
format a tape. Besides, the machine is correctly working.
