I found this monitor together with a Commodore 64 computer at a local marketplace. It’s in good estetic conditions and works perfectly. No wonder, as all the 1702 monitors are rebranded Toshiba surveillance devices. There’s a top-notch build quality and reliability inherent to these units - a lot of care has been taken in their electronic design and construction. There are many interesting design choices that contribute to their robustness and longevity, for example: you can find high-quality capacitors, well-thought-out heat dissipation mechanisms, and a sturdy chassis that protects the internal components effectively. Also, there are a lot of isolation fuses incorporated to safeguard the circuitry against unexpected electrical surges.
The actual CRT screen quality is not the best compared to newer high end displays, but I think that it perfectly matches the classic breadbin. If you want to experience the authentic Commodore 64 feeling, this monitor is an ideal choice.
